On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, on the feast day of the Holy Great Martyr, Trophy-Bearer, and Wonderworker George, following the conclusion of the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in Munich, an international church and academic conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the German Diocese will open. This conference will continue the series of scholarly gatherings organized by representatives of ROCOR since 2002 in Hungary, Russia, and Serbia.

On May 6–8, 2026, Munich will host an international academic conference to mark the centennial of the German Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. Its goal is to provide a comprehensive reflection on the Diocese’s historical path, as well as to discuss contemporary challenges and prospects for its future development. The methodological foundation of the conference is an objective analysis of the complexity of sources in their historical and ecclesiastical context. Leading scholars of the history of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad will take part. The conference is organized in partnership with the portal ROCOR Studies, which contributes academic depth and fosters international research collaboration. The conference is a sequel to the conference Links between the Times: Conclusions and Perspectives, which took place in Serbia in 2021.

The conference will take place in the halls of the historic Blutenburg Castle, in close proximity to the Monastery of St. Job of Pochaev in Munich. Over the course of three days, in the presence of many distinguished guests, including all the hierarchs of the ROCOR, more than twenty papers on the history and theology of the Russian Church Abroad will be presented.

The program will also include a jubilee exhibition dedicated to the history of the German Diocese. In addition, in cooperation with the ROCOR Church Music School in Europe, a choral concert featuring works by composers of the Russian ecclesiastical emigration is being prepared.

Papers will be delivered in Russian and German. Simultaneous translation into both languages (and into English if necessary) will help overcome potential language barriers.

Seating in the assembly hall is limited. After accounting for presenters and invited guests, we can provide only 120 seats for the audience. Therefore, we kindly ask you to secure your reservation in advance.

At the same time, you will be able to participate in the conference online. All papers and their translations will be broadcast on YouTube. To receive the link, it is also necessary to complete the registration form.

All of the above aspects of the conference entail significant expenses, and your donation will be a valuable contribution to making this unique event in the life of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad possible. At the link below, you will find the registration form and all necessary information.
