Greeting on the forthcoming feast of the Dormition of Most Holy Mother of God!

On August 1 of 2023 I began the new project, This Day in the Life of the Church. Every day for one year I have written and shared with subscribers my reflection on the history and theology of the Orthodox Church. These reports have been particularly focused on the history of the Russian Church Abroad.

At the end of July 2023 the platform SendPulse, having first supposed me to be a Russian agent and then a spammer, prohibited my further use of their services. However, there is always a silver lining. I discovered Substack, a platform that has been designed primarily for writers.

I continue This Day in the Life of the Church on Substack. For $80.00 a year or $8.00 a month I offer my reports to subscribers. This work is a win-win. Substack allows you to read or even listen to my 3-4 minutes long presentations, while the subscriptions have bought me time to do my own work. (More information is below.)

Right now, I am beginning my major project for the coming year: revising my Ph.D. dissertation to produce a book. To be able to complete this project, I need to fundraise $10,000 to provide for my family while I am working on it. The subject of the book is Canon 15 of the First and Second Council in Constantinople (861), which sets out the conditions for breaking the ecclesiastical chain of command.
