ROCOR-STUDIES
Dear reader,

Regards from Vienna, Austria!

There has been a long hiatus since I last shared anything with you about
the updates to this website. I have been busy developing my daily
reports on Substack, and – thanks be to God! – this new venue has helped
me make ends meet. Then, in September, I began to teach the most
complicated class I have ever taught at Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary:
History of the Church. It took me several days to prepare one lecture,

but as a result, I gained a fuller understanding of the theological
problems connected with the Ecumenical Councils.

My fundraiser to support turning my dissertation into a book was only
partially successful. Nevertheless, I have still been working on this

project whenever I have a chance.

Now, I am in Vienna, where my wife, daughter, and two sons are in the

process of receiving their education. I continue to teach my classes for
Holy Trinity Seminary via Zoom.

With all these things going on, the ROCOR Studies project has not been
left behind. My colleague and collaborator Dr. Walker (John) Thompson
has created a testing version of a Web app for viewing the massive index
of articles from /Pravoslavnaia Rus/ʹ, a significant publication of the
ROCOR, for the period 1928-2008. This project was sponsored by the late
Metropolitan Laurus (+2008) and carried out by Dmitry Anashkin (+2018).
This 35,000-entry index, to be made available on the ROCOR Studies site
shortly, will provide the worldwide research community with
unprecedented access to information on the history of the Russian Church
diaspora.

The site continues to be updated with new materials as usual. With a
translation grant I received from the Australian and New Zealand Diocese
of the ROCOR, I paid for the Russian translation of a lengthy interview

with Archpriest Matthew Williams, which was posted here in August. Later
this year, I plan to post an interview with the Mitred Archpriest
Nikolai Artemoff from Munich about the connections between the ROCOR and
Russian Solidarists (a political organization).

Having said all this, I ask for your prayers for the ROCOR Studies team
and for your ongoing support of our work.

Thank you for your continuing interest,

Protodeacon Andrei Psarev
