Greetings from central Serbia! I’ve come to Šumadija to visit in Arandjelovac (in the the photo below) my friend Srećko Petrović, with whom I co-organized a conference in Serbia in 2021 dedicated to the centennial of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

Earlier this month, we published a new feature on our website related to the possible canonization of Metropolitan Sergius (Stragorodsky). The research we are now presenting is both original and meticulous. For the first time, drawing on a diverse range of sources—including English-language press, official documents, and personal correspondence—it reconstructs the context and motivations behind the participation of Orthodox hierarchs, including Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitskii), in the Church of England’s 1925 commemoration of the 1600th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea.
This study complements the series of historical essays by Nicholas Mabin featured on our platform. It also reflects the core mission of our website: to restore historical truth without embellishment or omission.

I am deeply grateful to all who support our work—through your attention, your prayers, and your generous contributions.

Thank you for your continued interest,

East and West Pray Together. The Council of Nicaea: Sixteenth Centenary Celebrations in Westminster Abbey, 1925
In 1925, the Church of England’s unprecedented commemoration of the 1600th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council brought Orthodox patriarchs and hierarchs—including, for the first time, to England—together in Westminster Abbey, driven by a complex blend of ecclesiastical and political motivations.
