I am now in San Francisco, where on Saturday I had the honor and joy of attending the episcopal consecration of my colleague and friend, HTOS faculty member, Bishop Vasily (Permiakov), who was ordained as Bishop of San Francisco and the West in the Orthodox Church in America. Tomorrow, God willing, I travel to the American South for a series of lectures on St. Tikhon the Confessor, our holy Patriarch.

For your reflection, I am sharing a perceptive portrait of St. Tikhon written by Archimandrite Constantine (Zaitseff, +1975). This year we are marking the centennial of St. Tikhon’s repose. This article shows that, despite distance and other barriers, thoughtful reflections on the holy Patriarch continued to emerge within the Russian ecclesiastical diaspora.
