The second half of August has been especially full and productive. On August 10, I gave my presentation on St. Patriarch Tikhon for the first time at the parish of the Meeting of the Lord in Stratford, CT. Soon after, I traveled to San Francisco for the consecration of Bishop Vasily (Permikov), as Bishop of San Francisco and Western America, and delivered the same presentation at the “Old Cathedral.” Immediately afterward, I headed South, speaking about St. Tikhon in six communities across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Now I am back in Jordanville, teaching courses on Church history and canon law—life has felt very much “bumper to bumper”!

I am also glad to share news of another initiative close to my heart. Following the success of our Serbian conference, we are preparing its sequel—this time in Germany, marking the 100th anniversary of the German Diocese of ROCOR. Registration opened today, with options both for in-person attendance and for online participation.
This promises to be a unique event, where we will take up the historical complexities of ROCOR’s past by studying the evidence carefully on its own merits. At present, the working languages are Russian (primarily) and German, though if there is sufficient demand from English-speaking participants, an English translation may also be provided.
I warmly invite you to consider joining us for this important commemoration and scholarly exchange. Click on the image below for more information in Russian and German. Registration is also available in English.
