ROCOR-STUDIES
Dear [subscriber:firstname | default:reader],

In the previous decades, our understanding of ecclesiastical history in the diaspora was strongly connected with polemical attitude. We live in a blessed time now when we may approach history professionally: comparing all existing facts and their interpretations. A discussion ensuing in the aftermath of World War Two contains valuable reflections on the canonical and administrative organization of the Russian ecclesiastical diaspora from such luminaries as Frs. Alexander Schmemann, Michael Pomazansky, Michael Polsky and others. Now we can assess their arguments on their own merits with the hindsight of history. All throughout that discussion participants brought up valid points. Perhaps it is now time to start analyzing them.

The American Metropolia and the Los Angeles Trial

This pamphlet is part of an extensive discussion, reproduced here in the Canon Law section. Fr. Michael Polsky's book The Canonical Position of the Supreme Church Authority in the USSR and abroad sparked this discussion. This discussion remains valuable because it helps us to understand better the proper canonical administrative organization of the Russian ecclesiastical diaspora.
