ROCOR-STUDIES

Dear reader,

I hope this communication finds you well. This is our first update for October. I was in Canada, presenting at the Byzantine studies conference. I also had a chance to speak about ROCOR history at our Toronto and Vancouver parishes.

This update revolves around the decision of Metropolitan Sergii (Stragorodskii) and his Synod in Moscow to suspend in 1934 the Russian refugee bishops. This decision was an attempt to relieve the Church in Russia from responsibility for the anti-Soviet stance of our hierarchs.

I issued an appeal from Vancouver regarding a fundraiser to pay for the digitization of audio recordings and the editing of the Russian texts. So far, we have collected $334. I have already paid $160 to Ilya, our digital transcriber, for his work on audio recordings. I still believe that if the many of six hundred subscribers on this list donated $10, using the link below, we would have already met our $1000 objective.

My tight schedule with writing daily reports does not mean that the web site should be, or will be, left behind. Another update will be sent to you before the end of the month.

Thank you for your continuing interest,

Protodeacon Andrei Psarev
